A math teacher builds the first solar car in Kashmir

Bilal Ahmed of Sanat Nagar in Srinagar has reached the milestone after 11 years of hard work and research.

Bilal Ahmed, a mathematics teacher and innovator in the capital of the former state of Jammu and Kashmir, has invented for the first time an affordable electric car powered by solar energy.

Electric car with solar energy

Ahmed comes from Sanat Nagar in Srinagar and has reached the milestone after 11 years of hard work and research.

Ahmed’s novelty spread like wildfire on social media. Former Jammu and Kashmir Prime Minister Omar Abdullah also tweeted about Ahmed’s actions: “It looks like the car may fly one day. The car has solar panels on the body and a charging station in the car. interior “.

Ahmed’s desire to make a luxury but affordable car for the common man led him to study cars made since the 1950s.

He was inspired by the work of an engineer and innovator from Detroit, USA, owner of the automotive company DMC.

“Cars like Mercedes, Ferrari, BMW are a dream for a normal man,” he said, adding: “Only the rich can afford these cars. I thought it would be great to bring a sense of luxury to people with this. innovation “.

Ahmed started modifying the car after watching several videos and adding new features.

“At first I was thinking of making a car for people with disabilities, but financial constraints prevented me from continuing with the project,” he said.

In 2009, he started a project to develop an innovative, self-made, solar-powered luxury car, and completed the project that year.

He said the car has the same features as other luxury cars. The car is powered solely by electric power produced by monocrystalline solar modules.

Ahmed chose this type of solar panels in particular because they produce the maximum electricity even from the least amount of solar energy to which they are exposed, and the panels are efficient and occupy a small area.

The car is fully automatic and has gull wing doors to meet space limitations.

“No one gave me financial support,” he said. “If I had the support I needed, it could have been Elon Musk from Kashmir.”
